My mother and my grandmother used to make looms with cotton and wool that they harvested. No material was bought because bartering was practiced and they exchanged loom-made linens for fruit or meat so that the whole community could help each other. They taught me how to work the loom but when it was my turn to make products I was lucky enough to start selling them in the streets of San Cristobal and so I began to have an income. I also had to teach my daughters the art of the backstrap loom.
