Grandes Maestros - Angelica Reyes Martinez

Angelica and her sisters, Matilde and Lilia, are excellent embroiderers in San Felipe Santiago. Their designs are the product of a delicate cosmovision, a long history, and an environment rich in images of nature expressed with needle and thread in two-needle embroidery, basting, pepenado, and cross stitch techniques, among others. At an early age, their mother gave them simple tools: thread, needle, and fabric. With these, and their imagination, they could begin to elaborate on their pieces. Over time, these pieces were perfected and diversified, reflecting the creativity of each individual as they designed and combined the threads, capturing what they observed of their community.
