Grandes Maestros - Emilia Castillo Silfversparre
In 1939, Los Castillo established their workshop in a house downtown that Don Antonio Castillo Teran adapted for their purpose. His daughters, Emilia and Lily, although each with their ideas and trajectories, are determined and dedicated to maintaining the fame of the old Castillo workshop, where the traditional pieces have become classics of Mexican goldsmithing.
They learned by observation, watching their father and the extraordinary master artisans of the family workshop at work, and later experimenting with shapes and materials on their own.
Emilia studied design and coined her own technique combining pure silver with porcelain. Lily is dedicated to preserving the traditional technique of the workshop, but is also constantly working on new designs. Both show great strength of expression.
