Sindashi
Mexico
It started with my love for Mexican culture. I picked up a brush and began painting directly onto fabric with motifs inspired by our rich heritage, from ancient glyphs to colorful folkloric symbols. I made the first pieces for myself. Then, their friends wanted them. Then, friends of friends. Suddenly, I couldn’t keep up with the demand.
That’s when I decided to leap. I opened a small workshop in San Miguel de Allende and hired my first artist, a woman painting on the streets. I didn’t just want help; I wanted collaboration. We trained together and explored designs rooted in the many cultures that flourish across Mexico. One artist became two. Then more.
Today, Sindashi is a collective of 27 artists and 60 women from nearby communities. We don’t mass-produce; we co-create. Every stitch, bead, and brushstroke tells a story. Jaguars, hummingbirds, Quetzalcoatl, ancient goddesses, our garments are living canvases.
Sindashi means ‘white’ in Otomí: a blank space full of potential. Every season, we release new collections, but no two pieces are ever the same. Each one is an artwork—bold, feminine, deeply Mexican, and unapologetically original.
I hope that when someone wears Sindashi, they’re not just putting on a fashion statement. They’re carrying a piece of culture, a burst of color, and a spark of the hands that made it.
