Rainbow-Beaked Toucan Earrings

The keel-billed toucan (or sulfur-breasted toucan; *Ramphastos sulfuratus*) is a small, playful, and social bird found primarily in Central and South America. It is the smallest of all toucans. Its bill is one of the most colorful in the avian world, which is the origin of its name.

It tends to inhabit tropical, subtropical, and lowland forests and typically lives in groups. It nests in natural tree cavities or holes made by woodpeckers—usually high in the tree canopy—often sharing the space with other family members. When sleeping in a tree hollow, it tucks its bill and tail beneath its body to make room for other family members. It is a social bird and is rarely seen alone.
