Artisan Story

I am 33 years old. I am originally from Zinacantan, Chiapas. I am dedicated to handicrafts since I was a child and was interested in weaving in backstrap looms. I started weaving at age eleven helping my grandmother but as I was studying, I left it for a while. When I finished high school, I dedicated myself full time to the looms. As I was interested in studying design and did not have the resources, I saw the looms as a door to achieve my dreams and so I was learning with my grandmother, who was also my teacher. Thank God, today, I make my own designs and work with love in my garments as they are made with my unique touch using my ancestral techniques.
