Creator Story

La Chinantla is one of the most representative regions of Oaxaca and its ancient culture. Its natural and gastronomic wealth and wonderful textiles make the northernmost region unique.
It is divided into two parts: the upper Chinantla and the lower Chinantla. Within the lower Chinantla is Jalapa de Díaz, the municipality from which we mostly use embroidery in Diseños Xinantla. This traditional embroidery is made with cotton threads. Each embroidery is first drawn on the fabric and then embroidered with the help of a hoop. Embroidery can be done on blanket, rayon, or backstrap loom fabrics. The traditional drawings are inspired by the worldview of indigenous people, such as flowers, birds, and graphics that represent the soul of people. Men and women participate in the embroidery. Every purchase in Chinantla directly benefits indigenous families.
