The Sechura kimono is light and fashionable outerwear garment, handwoven in a blend of alpaca and wool and naturally dyed with materials obtained in the Andes- Easy to wrap yourself up in while keeping you warm, woven in a traditional backstrap loom and sewn by hand.

One size. Comes in Arid and River.

This alpaca ruana was made in the high Andean village of Chaullacocha in the Patacancha valley at an altitude of over 4000m (13 123 feet) by an indigenous Quechua weaver who has been working with Threads of Peru since 2009.  All the women in these cooperatives recognize that their weaving ability has improved dramatically in these years, and are grateful to those that purchase their weavings.

Threads of Peru is a not-for-profit social enterprise that connects the world to handmade treasures of the Andes, helping to strengthen ancient craft techniques and empower artisans.  Our commitment is to breathe life once again into the incomparable value and knowledge of natural fibers, natural dyes, and textile traditions only found in this awe-inspiring corner of the world. We dream that making these traditions economically viable will inspire young Quechua men and women to take pride in their cultural heritage - in weaving, in speaking Quechua, and in living in their native communities—and to pass it along for centuries to come.
