The Product

These small tassels are beautifully handmade by survivors of trafficking, making each one a symbol of hope and resilience. They come on a thoughtfully designed card, adorned with a heartfelt message that embodies the holiday spirit. Each card can be repurposed as a bookmark, allowing your loved ones to carry a reminder of this meaningful gift year-round. These tassels and their accompanying cards reflect what the holiday season means to the Not I But We team—hope, renewal, and the joy of giving back. Each tassel is a festive, impactful addition to your tree or a treasured gift for someone special. Share the gift of economic opportunity and celebrate the season with purpose.

The Story

Not i But We works with the women at S-Cape, a safe house for survivors of human trafficking in Cape Town. While there, the survivors receive physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual care, as well as skills development and job opportunities to ensure that they can flourish in their reintegration.

Every purchase provides dignity, justice, hope and healing. We cannot end this injustice alone, we are inextricably bound together and we are not free until all are free.

We believe you deserve to feel good about the stuff you buy. We understand how it feels to want to buy things that are good for the people who made them, the planet, and you. This is why we’ve been working on the ground with our artisans in Gonaives, Haiti for 8 years, creating recycled, handcrafted goods for a livable wage. Last year our impact enabled over 108 children to stay in school, not because of hand-outs, but through the dignity of their parents’ work with 2nd Story Goods.
