Artisan - Carmen Teresa Gómez de la Torre
Zinacantan
Like almost all the girls in the village, I learned at the age of thirteen to work my canvases on a backstrap loom because my mother taught me how to make the loom and the brocades. I practiced until I improved my technique and was able to sell my products. I mostly sell it to the resellers because it is very difficult to leave the village to sell them in places that pay well. Little by little, I managed to form a cooperative and that is where I currently sell or by order, although it is not as much as I would like.
