Artisan - Manuela del Carmen Vazquez Perez
Venustiano Carranza, Mexico
As the daughter of an artisan, I learned to weave very young. I got up early to go to grind and make tortillas then I had to start weaving until the afternoon after helping my mother prepare our food. I go back to weaving around 4 until before dark in order to be able to make as much progress as possible. Our pieces take many days to be finished, then we need to work really hard to sell them quickly and have some money to eat.
