Loin Textiles
Loin Textiles and Crafts was born as a brand three years ago due to the need to promote the work of the women of San Juan Chamula, who elaborate handmade pieces with love and dedication using their ancestral techniques applied in the wool of the region and also cotton, and linen, Their hand embroideries include chains, rococo, and waist loom, and all threads are naturally dyed. Loin Textiles and Crafts is a company that supports women to make fair wages for their work so they can support their homes by developing handmade products such as clothing and decorative home accessories. Loin works with 20 women of different ages, and each one works on what they most likes to do; each has her technique and applies unique touches to every piece. Our company is led by the third generation of women working with textiles in San Juan Chamula. The word Loin in the Tsotsil Mayan language has two meanings: the first is less used, twins, and the second applies to our brand, which is to wear comfortable or loose clothes.
