JUST ARTISAN MARKETPLACE

HUIXTAN, LOOMS TO FALL IN LOVE.
The Municipality of Huixtan is one of the 124 municipalities that make up the state of Chiapas, its capital is the town of Huixtan.
The Tsotsil communities of Huixtán preserve a great wealth of customs and traditions, such as the clothing that identifies them from other towns. The artisans of these communities are an example of struggle in the preservation of their cultural roots, in which the handcrafted clothing pieces filled with symbols and meanings of the Tsotsil Huixtán Mayan culture stand out.
In the processes of globalization, the younger generations are displacing traditional clothing for western clothing, losing part of their cultural legacy. The handicraft activity is an important alternative for family income, complementary to many other productive activities, which in turn helps women develop their enormous potential, raising their self-esteem and allowing them to organize with other women to make their work evolve. The main objective is to improve women's quality of life by generating income equivalent to a minimum wage.
