The Katumare is a basket made of natural mamure fibers and is woven using the interlacing method. This basket is used to transport the products collected in the conuco, as well as to carry firewood and other personal items. Once the basket is full, it is placed on the back and the weight is supported by the head through a belt also made of natural fiber (similar to a chair). The Katumare earcuff represents this emblematic basket of the cultures of this region.
– Measurements: The earcuff measures 3.3 cm long by 6.7 cm high.
– Material: The metal pieces are handmade in bronze and have a 24K matte gold plating.
