Celebrating Women's Achievements: Why We Celebrate Women's Month

March is Women's History Month, a time to reflect on the accomplishments of women around the world. This month-long celebration has only been officially recognized since 1987 but it has quickly become an important tradition that allows us to recognize and celebrate the contributions that women have made throughout history.

At Just being an Impact Venture, we are passionate about empowering women. This year, we want to focus on one of the most important goals of the Sustainable Development Goals by the United Nations, goal #5. Its mission statement is:

“Gender equality and empower all women and girls”

Women's rights

We believe that education is the cornerstone of empowerment.

While many countries around the world have made significant progress in ensuring that girls and women have access to education, there are still places where girls are not even allowed to attend school past the 6th grade. This is a major setback for these countries, as women are essential to the economic development of the nations in which they live.

We must recognize that denying women access to education is a deliberate attempt to control them and reinforce the false belief that men are superior and know better than women. However, when women are educated, they know their rights and can earn money. This means they are less vulnerable to violence from the men in their lives.

At Just, our call to action is for everyone, regardless of gender, to empower women in the global south by purchasing their products and supporting initiatives that will empower them through education. If we all take this commitment seriously, we will reach gender equality much sooner than projected.

One way we are working to empower women is through our platform, www.choosejust.com. Our Women Creators have access to international markets that pay a fair price for their products. The artisans upload their products directly from our Teresa App, and we eliminate intermediaries.

By purchasing products from these women, we can support their economic empowerment.

We encourage everyone to plan their gift purchases for the entire year and commit to buying at least 60% of them from women creators. Let us make this our intention going forward and contribute to the empowerment of women worldwide.

In conclusion, Women's History Month is an important time to reflect on the accomplishments of women and recognize the work that still needs to be done to achieve gender equality.

At Just, we are committed to empowering women through education and economic opportunity. By supporting women creators through choosejust.com, we can all contribute to a more equitable and JUST world.
